The Missing Piece

I was recently at a networking event when I bumped into a professional contact I had known for years.  They approached me saying someone had recommended me to help solve a problem.  What was interesting to me is they also said to me “I had no idea you did that kind of work”. That stunned me.  If someone I had interacted with many times doesn’t know what I do then I might have a big problem with new contacts I’m trying to do business with.

I’ve always had issues being confused with headhunting companies.  Maybe there is something in the name “ES Talent Solutions” that puts people into that frame of mind.  But this seemed different and I spent a lot of time thinking about it, wondering what I’m missing. Today is my first step in doing something about it.  So I’m appealing to you, my network, to read on and learn about me and my business.  Please add any thoughts or advice in clarifying my message to the comment section below or reach out to me directly.

I worked for some great companies and one thing I learned is that success isn’t just about having a great product.  It’s about securing the right talent to execute corporate business strategy. As the leader of ES Talent Solutions, I’ve made it my life’s mission to solve one of business’s most critical challenges: helping organizations build their competitive talent advantage.

After more than 25 years in recruiting, I’ve witnessed a fundamental problem plaguing even the most dedicated companies. They pour resources into recruiting efforts, implement expensive technologies, and hire talented recruiters, yet still struggle to attract and secure top-tier talent efficiently. Through my experience leading recruiting functions at companies like Johnson & Johnson, IBM, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and Radius Health, I discovered why this is the case –  most organizations approach talent acquisition backwards.

Many companies approach talent acquisition backwards – they select tools first, then try to force their processes to fit the technology.

They select tools first, then try to force their processes to fit the technology. They implement systems without strategy. They focus on activity rather than outcomes. This approach creates inefficiencies, wastes resources, and ultimately fails to deliver the talent organizations need to fuel growth.

This realization sparked my passion for a different approach—one that prioritizes coordinated, proven strategies before selecting tools and technologies. This philosophy became the foundation of ES Talent Solutions, where we help dynamic (my definition of “dynamic” is growing, shrinking, or merging) companies unleash their true talent potential.

What sets ES Talent Solutions apart is our comprehensive, strategic approach to talent acquisition. We don’t offer recruiting (i.e. headhunting) services.  We provide end-to-end talent strategy consulting that aligns people, process, and technology with business objectives. Our services span the entire talent acquisition ecosystem: from conducting thorough recruiting assessments and optimizing processes, to managing ATS implementations and vendor selections, to developing employer brands and training hiring managers and recruiting teams.

I love doing this work. And what truly drives me is seeing the transformation that occurs when organizations get their talent acquisition strategy right. When companies align their recruiting processes with their strategic goals, when they select technology that enhances rather than hinders their efforts, and when they develop coordinated approaches to attracting talent, remarkable things happen. They build stronger teams faster. They reduce time-to-fill while improving quality of hire. They create sustainable competitive advantages that fuel long-term growth.

The recruiting landscape continues to evolve rapidly, with new technologies, changing candidate expectations, and shifting market dynamics. Organizations need more than just recruiting support—they need strategic guidance from someone who understands both the tactical execution and the broader business implications of talent acquisition decisions.

I combine deep industry expertise with creative problem-solving to help recruiting teams achieve better results, faster and with more predictability. And I measure success not just by filled positions, but by the measurable business impact our talent strategies create for clients.

We all know companies need great talent to succeed.  The question is, do they have the right strategy to secure that talent consistently and efficiently? That’s where ES Talent Solutions can make the difference between hoping for great hires and systematically attracting them.
